ABOUT US

My name is Aleisha Sin, and I am the founder of The Fairtrade Cause. After learning about my project, many often ask about how I learned about these issues and, more importantly, why I care. Allow me to tell my story:

Born and raised in the metropolitan city of Hong Kong, I, and many other cities- dwellers, aren't usually exposed to the harsh realities of farm life and pressing problems throughout the comprehensive food supply chain.

However, I experienced a rude awakening during the summer of 2020. My summer job as a barista made me realize that many unjust issues surround even a single coffee bean. I was curious to learn more, so I conducted intensive research on all the problems regarding trading, such as the middlemen costs, unfair child labor, and exploitations of big corporations. Through social media and friends, I personally reached out to farmers in the Philippines to document the challenges throughout their day-to-day operations. Touched by our conversations, I created The Fairtrade Cause to share the farmers' stories through multi-media sources and allow their voices to be heard.

Your voice matters. Get involved with the Fairtrade Cause to make a difference today.
